Results of the
Alternative Education API Survey Form
January 2000
Following is the form used to collect the data
for the API Survey with results shown in blue.
The State Board of Education is currently developing the new Academic
Performance Index (API) for alternative schools. It is not clear how much
input we will have because we were not given a seat on the committee. In
fact, none of the alternative education groups are directly represented. Because of this, the CCEA Executive Board has decided to develop a
suggested API and present it to the API committee chairs. This needs to be
completed in the next few weeks. The Executive Board feels that it is
necessary to get as much input from the field as possible before
developing the suggested API. The form below was developed for that
purpose.
Please complete the survey form below and then click the Submit button
at the bottom of the form to send us your suggestions. |
The Alternative Education API will probably require that 60 percent weight
be
based on the SAT/9 test thus not leaving us the option to return the SAT/9
scores back to the regular school. How can we effectively use SAT/9 scores to
measure school performance? Please select one of the following.
| (15%) |
Use overall SAT/9 scores for students who were
continuously enrolled in the continuation high school the majority of the school year. |
| (43%) |
Use a comparison of SAT/9 scores from the current
and previous year for students who were continuously enrolled in
the continuation high school for both tests (more than one year). |
| (30%) |
Use a combination of both of the above. |
| (12%) |

The remaining 40 percent weight probably can be based on other data that is
exactly comparable to all alternative schools. Please check all of the areas
below that you believe should be included as part of the Alternative
Education API.

the number of potential graduates (early in the school year), based on entering credits, to
