Sem Yeto Radio is a complete working radio station broadcasting one half megawatt (below FCC regulation requirements) at 88.7 FM.  Students earn radio "D.J." time by producing typed scripts that include local, state and national news, and must also contain advertising from local businesses..  The script must be developed using technology and evaluated for accuracy, literacy and content.  Those pieces accepted earn the student 1 hour of air time.  The station reaches to the downtown area of Fairfield.  The local radio station, KIUC, is a "sister station" and has taken the school program under its wing.  Students also earn certificates for competence from the school and the radio station.  They can earn internships from KIUC, as well.  Students receive elective or English credit for their scripts and broadcast time.  Students do special school news programs.  They interview students and staff and report school events.  Students meet as a radio club, solicit community donations and offer advertising to business owners in the listening area.  They are planning to have their won web page as soon as funding is available.  This will be done through Yahoo.
