The JROTC Program prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privileges as American citizens.  This program is unique in that it has offered great respect for differences among people in a very diversified community.  It has made use of these differences and created a powerful learning opportunity, which has become the heartbeat of a highly successful program.  The JROTC program demonstrates creative methods of instruction, motivation and achievement for a diverse student population, many of whom have exceptional needs.  It has enhanced the entire instructional atmosphere, with a commitment to a vision of peace and awareness of the school's responsibility for creating an environment where students can learn to participate effectively in the global community.  Components of the program include a peer mediation/conflict resolution program.  The JROTC program has provided valuable support and played an active role in the school's Gang Violence Suppression Program.  This has resulted in the uniting of many gang members being united during school hours under the banner of the JROTC program and this has contributed to a campus free from gang activities and violence.  The program was developed through a cooperative effort between the United States Army and the school district..  While there are nearly 1400 JROTC programs in high schools across the country, Pacific is one of only a few continuation schools to offer this program.  Over 200 students participate in this program each year.  This has had significant impact on student attendance and parent participation in school.  The school has also seen an improvement in grades and behavior.  The Pacific High School cadets were selected to be the Honor Guard at the State Capitol on Veteran's Day, 1998.
