  • For information about the bill and its status, visit  the California Legislative Information Page.  Once there, click the Bill Information button near the bottom of the page.  On the Bill Information Page choose 2000 - 2001(current) for the Session choice and Assembly for the House choice.  Next enter 927 in the Bill Number text box and click the Search Button.  This will take you to the AB 927 Page which has all of the information about the bill including its status and history.  While on the AB 927 page you may Subscribe to have bill updates emailed to you. This is done by clicking the Subscribe button on the bottom of the page and then entering your email address on the resulting page.
  • We still need co-authors for the bill.  View the Call to Action for the new funding bill for more information and please contact your legislator.  Click here for a sample letter to your legislator.
  • Ask your Superintendent and Board of Education to formally support AB 927 through a Board Resolution.  Click here for a Sample Resolution.  Please forward the resolutions to Peter Birdsall at Birdsall, Wasco, and Associates, 1215 K St., Suite 940, Sacramento, CA 95814.
  • Second Call to Action!  Our bill is going to be heard in the Assembly Education Committee on April 18th.  Please contact the members of Assembly Education Committee NOW and ask them to support AB 927.  Click here to view the letter from Peter Birdsall to the committee chair, Assembly Member Virginia Strom-Martin.  This letter can be used as a sample letter.  Also, view the Second Call to Action for more specific information.
Thank You!  The bill unanimously passed the Assembly Education Committee and has been forwarded to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
  • Third Call to Action!  If we expect to get our bill through, we need funds to be appropriated in the budget.  Please read the Third Call To Action and send your letters and make your calls to the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #2 Members today.
Thank You!  Unfortunately our bill was placed on suspense and is being held in the appropriations committee until next year.  That means that it is not dead, but because there is no money this year, it is not being considered any further at the present time.
